Chelsea prepares to launch ‘Amougou’

Chelsea are set to make an official announcement on the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou soon, with all the paperwork signed ahead of the January transfer window.

Amougou will remain with the Blues until next month. Before being loaned back to BlueCo side Strasbourg to gain experience.

Amougou made his debut for Saint-Etienne at the start of last season against Nimes. And featured in Ligue 2 as the club secured promotion to the French top flight.

The 19-year-old established himself as a regular starter in the Saint-Etienne midfield. At the beginning of the current campaign and made 17 appearances in Ligue 1.

The Blues reached an agreement with Saint-Etienne to sign Amougou towards the end of the transfer window on Monday.

The Blues are reported to be willing to pay £10m for Amougou.

Amougou made his debut for Saint-Etienne in 2023. Has made 17 Ligue 1 appearances and has represented France at youth levels from Under-16 to Under-19.
